ABOUT
The U.S. Department of the Air Force is offering 9,417 acres across JBER, Eielson, and Clear Space Force Station for up to 12 commercial data centers.
- Eielson AFB in Fairbanks (5 proposed locations) 4,382 total acres
- Space Command Base Healy (4 proposed locations) 4769 total acres
- JBER Military Base Eagle River (4 proposed locations) 266 total acres
Alaskans were never consulted on becoming the data center infrastructure hub for the military-tech complex. As it stands there has not been a single hyperscale data center proposal submitted to the Department of the Air Force.
Eielson however, currently has a proposal for a microreactor by Oklo with ties to Sam Altman being a chairman & the CEO of OpenAI. The base would be the first U.S. military installation to be powered, at least partly, by a 5-megawatt microreactor.
