About
The Department of Natural Resources proposed transfering 19,950 acres of state land just north of Houston to AIDEA, at no cost for transmission infrastructure for utilities; “advanced manufacturing pads”; and “scalable data centers” that would use the utilities.
Over 2,000 public comments were made with the majority of commenters wanting to keep this land for hunting & recreation.
If DNR transferred the land to AIDEA there will be 0 public comments on what they want to build there once they officially own the land.
Kevin McCabe seems to be the mouth piece for AIDEA stating they have no actual plans for all this land. Which isn’t really a really reassuring sentiment to those who use the land daily or live near it.
Plus it’s been brought to our attention because this land doesn’t fall in Houston city limits, the proposed moratorium & redoing zoning ordinances for the city of Houston wouldn’t really apply here, as proposed in the Aug 13th city council meeting. So something to take in account if AIDEA builds their industrial park they have laid out in their proposal to DNR.
