Every year, the Northern Alaska Environmental Center has the honor of commissioning an Alaska-based artist whose work embodies the spirit of Northern Alaska to create an original piece for our organization. The piece embodies relationships to the lands in Interior and Arctic Alaska that we work to protect.
The Featured Artist’s work is featured on our event publicity and fundraising materials throughout the year, and the original piece is auctioned off in November, at our annual Night for the North fundraiser event. The artist is also encouraged to attend Northern Center events throughout the year and may have opportunities to sell their work at select events.
Contract and compensation will be negotiated individually with the selected artist.
