Update: Through the generous matching donation from an anonymous donor, we are able to double your impact in supporting our programs and our defense of the Arctic. Donate this April to help us meet our goal of $30,000!

The Northern Alaska Environmental Center is at the forefront of environmental advocacy. We rely on your support to continue our work in the areas of Arctic conservation, Clean Water & Mining, and Youth Education.

Arctic: We face imminent threats of oil and gas exploitation across the Arctic, from the Arctic Refuge coastal plain to the Western Arctic. As we approach irreparable damage from the climate crisis, your support is more important than ever to help us fight projects like the ConocoPhillips Willow project, which we are currently challenging in court. The law still calls for a second lease sale in the Arctic Refuge in 2024, and we are focused on making the sale as unappealing as possible to oil companies while continuing work in Congress to repeal the Arctic Refuge leasing provision in the Tax Act of 2017.

Clean Water & Mining: Thanks to the generosity of members like you, the No Ambler Road Coalition is launching a website with custom branding and social media channels, creating a one-stop-shop for rapid communication, strategy, and local and national calls to action to stop the proposed Ambler Road development. We continue to work with the Mother Kuskokwim Tribal Coalition to monitor the proposed Donlin mine, and are collaborating with local community groups to advocate against environmentally and socially irresponsible hard-rock mining exploration and extraction projects in and around Fairbanks.

Youth Education: Camp Habitat registration opened March 20! This local nature camp for kids ages 4-11 engages their learning about conservation and ecology.

In line with our mission of education and advocacy, a new program is launching this summer called Adventure Borealis! The team of guides will plan outings centered on ecological education and natural history exploration for all people (adults too!) regardless of identity, age, ability or socio-economic status.

Your support is critical to our mission. By making a donation today, you can help make a difference in the environment and the rights of Alaska Native communities. Thank you.
