Tell BLM: No Road to Ambler!

Thank you so much to those of you who have already submitted comments or joined us at in-person hearings on the proposed road to Ambler. Tomorrow is the final day in this open comment period, and we urge you to submit your thoughts to the Bureau of Land Management before it's too late.

We are currently seeking applications for our 2024 Featured Artist. Applicants should live in Alaska and have deep connections to the north. We welcome applications from early career artists. Please share this information with your network to help us find the best person for the role. 

More information about this role and how to apply can be found on our website. Applications are due January 5, 2024, and a contract will be negotiated with the selected artist shortly thereafter. 

2023 Arctic Report Card

Earlier this month, the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration released the 2023 Arctic Report Card, detailing climate change impacts and extreme weather in the Arctic. 

The findings included changes to temperature of the air, water, and land, as well as impacts to animals in the region. The report also detailed existing and potential future collaborative work with Indigenous Arctic peoples to monitor the changes to the environment.

• At COP28, a new international fund was announced that would offer reparations to countries most impacted by climate change.
• Nations convened at COP28 also agreed to transition away from coal, oil, and gas but did not deliver a clear path to fossil fuel phase out.
