The Northern Center is hiring an Events and Development Coordinator. Please help spread the word!
The Events and Development Coordinator assists with the coordination and implementation of all aspects of the Northern Alaska Environmental Center’s (Northern Center’s) individual and corporate fundraising and events. The Events and Development Coordinator manages the donor database, manages fundraising appeals, works with staff to promote the Northern Center’s programs on social media and oversees all aspects of event management.
Duties include, but are not limited to: assisting with donor appeals, entering donor data, promoting event(s) and selling tickets; understanding the complex needs of different events and diverse audiences; securing sponsorships from local, national, and worldwide business supporters; developing, ordering, and selling Northern Center branded-swag; working with colleagues in a collaborative manner for event planning tasks; maintaining a strong knowledge of venues and vendor offerings; coordinating event speakers, guests, entertainment, food/beverage and/or special features; tracking and submitting event vendor payments in a timely manner; managing and overseeing events on the day of, including problem-solving, welcoming guests, directing event set-up, communicating with staff, and organizing vendors, and managing take-down; communicating with communications manager to create effective advertisements for each event; anticipating and planning for possible different scenarios; providing development assistance, database transition and maintenance, and donation processing.
The Events and Development Coordinator should have knowledge of events management, data base management (knowledge of Bloomerang preferred; training resources are available), should be able to work independently and remotely at times, have knowledge of fundraising principals, have experience fundraising, be excited about environmental protection in Alaska, and passionate about contributing creatively to conservation work. The Events and Development Coordinator reports to the Communications Manager.
Compensation range is between $22 – $24 per hour with generous benefits. This position is fulltime and located in Fairbanks.
