Northern Voices: Carolyn Kremers: Pilgrimage to Tibet and the Interconnectedness of All Things @ Unitarian Universalist Fellowship of Fairbanks

Join us for our next Northern Voices speaker series event with Carolyn Kremers.

Fairbanks writer Carolyn Kremers will share slides and stories from her travels in Tibet in summer 2016.

After living again for 10 months in the republic of Buryatia (the center for Tibetan Buddhism in Russia), she traveled to China to explore some of Tibet. She visited Lhasa, several ancient monasteries, Mount Qomolangma (Everest) base camp, and western Tibet, where she walked the ancient kora (or circumambulation) around Mount Kailash, the most sacred mountain for Buddhists, Hindus, Jains, and Bönpos. The path is a loop of 32 miles that has been followed by pilgrims for a thousand years. It begins at 15,010 feet and climbs to 18,400. Throughout the journey, Carolyn met many Tibetans and other travelers. This slide presentation shares some of her story.
