Healy Basin Gas License
The State of Alaska is in the process of considering similar licenses and leases across the state. Now is an important time to give feedback to state agencies as precedent is set for gas and oil development in residential areas and sensitive areas in our state. Stories of “fracking” mishaps in the lower 48 are receiving a lot of media attention in light of increasing evidence of groundwater contamination, air quality deterioration, and impacts to human health. We must encourage Alaska agencies to establish regulations and guidelines that ensure that similar problems won’t be repeated here.
