Alaska: An energy rich state
There is no question that Alaska is among the richest states in terms of energy sources. Alaska contains large reserves of coal and natural gas and is the second largest oil producer among the states. In terms of renewable energy, Alaska is graced with sources of wind, geothermal, solar, biomass, and tidal energy sources. With the cost of energy rapidly increasing, and coal and oil prices wildly fluctuating, the focus on renewable energy solutions has become a focal point for Alaska's policy makers.
