Name:  Carrie Talus

Where are your feet right now? Los Alamos, New Mexico

Occupation: Stay at home mom and artist (and in the near future I will again be a Biologist)

Favorite Mountain: Mt. Eyak in Cordova or Mt. Roberts in Juneau!

Favorite Ice Cream Flavor: Haagen Daaz Belgian chocolate or coffee. mmm!

Outdoor Recreation of Choice: X-country skiing, ski-joring, hiking, snow shoeing, biking

Why did you become a member of the NAEC? We are big fans of NAEC and everything you do ever since we first moved to Fairbanks in 1993

When I travel, I always bring my: Family (hubby Matt Heavner and 2 kids (Aven and Torsten)

What 3 things can always be found in your refrigerator? Good cheeses, olives, hot sauce!

Do you have any special talents? I like to draw, paint, make tiles and enjoy time with good friends. I also make a mean chile relleno!

7 Things we always need help with!

  • EVENT PLANNERS! We are in need of members to serve on our Fundraising Committee. Email lori@northern.org to learn more about this volunteer position. Not as big of time commitment as being on our Board, but meaningful hands-on work with a great group of people. Please join us in creating fun and inspiring events in 2015! Email me.
  • Poster hanger - put up event posters around town when needed.
  • Bake for Wilderness - add your name to our list of bakers for special events and weekly treats for the Center.  
  • Mailings! Can you come in for 1-2 hours to help fold, stuff, seal, and stamp?
  • Help plan House Parties
  • Like our Facebook Page and share with your friends.
  • Lawn mowing/snow shoveling
