1. Celia Hunter’s Lobben Boots
In 2010, Susan Grace and Keith Polluck donated these priceless red Lobben boots, the former property of Alaska conservation movement founder, Celia Hunter. They were purchased by Grant Matheke and returned to NAEC, thus beginning a tradition.

Interns are one of the Northern Center’s favorite things about summer. Each year, we recruit 2–4 young people from across the country (and internationally in 2011!) to work with our program staff. These young people infuse the Center with new ideas, perspectives, skills, and endless energy. They are the driving force behind summer events like the Run for the Refuge and conduct vital grassroots outreach and organizing, building campaigns that we rely on year–round. They are one of the best investments we can make as an organization—we currently have former interns on our staff and board. Please contribute generously to the continuation of this vital program.

Beautiful hand-made knife crafted and tempered (in the woodstove) by David Jonas in Goldstream Valley. Handle is made of local birch bark and burl and antler. Sheath made of a moose leg, also local to Goldstream Valley.
